Howard Park | Western Australia

Howard Park | Western Australia image

Howard Park Wines was established in 1986 with a vision of crafting outstanding wines of great subtlety, character, balance and elegance with an uncompromising commitment to quality.

Originally based in the coastal town of Denmark, Howard Park was one of the original wine pioneers in Western Australia’s Great Southern region. Howard Park Riesling was the first release, followed two years later by the Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot. Howard Park now has a second winery and cellar door based in Margaret River.

The founding philosophy ensures that Howard Park only uses the finest possible fruit from their vineyards and from distinguished growers in the Margaret River and Great Southern regions of Western Australia. For each variety, Howard Park continually defines and classifies the vineyards they use, ensuring the quality levels they demand.

Howard Park sources grapes from Western Australia’s two premier wine growing regions; Margaret River and the Great Southern.

Howard Park produces Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. They also produce a Single Vineyard Series which includes the Leston Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from the Leston vineyard, in the Willyabrup region of Margaret River, and the Scotsdale Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz from the Great Southern. The Regional Range from Howard Park represents the premium wine growing regions of Western Australia; Miamup wines from Margaret River and the Flint Rock wines from the Great Southern.

The sourcing of fruit from specific vineyards, and in many cases specific blocks, is the single most important factor in the production of the Howard Park wines. As a result, the Rieslings, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are only ever available in very small quantities. These wines are noted for their rare balance of elegance and power, and a proven history of reward, when aged, as complexity and interest increase.
